Our Vehicle

Kali Front

This is our 1995 Chevrolet Suburban K1500. I named her Kali after the Hindu goddess associated with death and destruction. Why death and destruction? Well besides it sounding bad-ass Kali is also considered the goddess of time and change. It’s funny because I usually never named the vehicles I owned, they were usually given a name by someone else and usually never a female name wich seems to be the standard. So Amy prefers the name Howard, which is fine but I think Kali seems to be more suitable and symbolic. She also named our ’00 Ford Focus “Bart” and that seemed to suit him… or her… whatever…

So our giant SUV is converted to run on waste vegetable oil (WVO). We bought a kit from greasecar and had it installed by our friend. We also opted for the on board pump and filtration system since we will be collecting and filtering on the road. This will allow us to pump and filter dirty grease into clean fuel!
