She’s Frozen!

So continues our adventures with the mighty Goddess Kali, aka “The Beast…” We were expecting some troubles having a diesel vehicle in the cold, cold Northeast Vermont winter, but having such a mild winter so far she’s been taking the cold very well. After our Christmas visit to Philadelphia we returned to VT, and after a very warm January (temps in the 40’s) February brought the sub zero temps back. After a couple nights of -15 degrees we attempted to start her up on a cold morning to go visit our friend David as he did some filming at a local elementary school. Continue reading

Cold Cam

www.robertlyonsphotography.com offers a live webcam at Coles Pond in Walden, VT. Check it out from time to time to see how buried we get this winter.

FEVER, FEVER, FUN!

The temperatures are cooling, and we have tried to imagine what it will be like when these great outdoors become less friendly and less like an addition to our cabin. See, we have no bathroom or plumbing (our running water has frozen) and we are used to going “#1” amongst the trees and “#2” up the path in the outhouse or at the house. So far, we have still been able to find comfort in the chilled air, but we are anticipating the changes. Continue reading

Cha Cha Cha Changes!

maple lane

Just like the leaves and the seasons here in the Northeast Kingdom are transforming, the farm itself is undergoing a few changes of its own. Our new friends are preparing to leave on a cross-country expedition of their own. Just like us, they have decided to travel powered by grease, and their moving craft is a great big yellow, now also blue and purple, school bus. The bus has just been recently converted and is still undergoing some renovations to make it a comfortable home for all 4 of them (plus a dog). We are excited for them to have many great adventures as we did on our trip. Continue reading

Into the Wild

cabin

I suppose this blog could be over now (but it’s not), as we have come to settle our belongings for a time in Walden, Vermont. Just as the previous entry explained, we arrived at Lettuce Bee Farm with the intention to work for 2 weeks and possibly stay another week. We have now been here for almost two months and we are gearing up to stay thru a proper Vermont winter and then some. Continue reading

Clearwater, FL

bella and turtle

Leaving Gainesville, we boogied down to Clearwater to visit with Jon’s mom and sister, Jamie, and boyfriend, Joey… and 18th month old niece who we would be meeting for the first time! It was very exciting to pull up to Jamie’s house and immediately we were greeted by a beautiful little girl with outstretched arms wanting to be held… We have been so excited to meet Bella and especially excited to see her mommy and gammy, since it has been over 2 years since our last meeting. We set up in the spare bedroom and were ready to hang out for the week. Continue reading
