Fargo, ND

fargo1Zipping through Montana and most of North Dakota, we finally landed in Fargo for the night. Well, we actually slept right next door in Moorhead, MN after exploring downtown Fargo and searching for food (suitable for vegetarians), grease, and a hotel… no luck. We had found potential hotel deals in the surprisingly not so small town of Fargo, but decided to keep checking out our options and ended up in a low budget hotel with a lot of character. Some features were reminiscent of an old school, or possibly even a detention center. There were cinder block walls, long hallways with fluorescent lights, fluorescent bedroom lights, and an overall feeling of a time from the past (specifically the 1970s). The rooms were clean enough, though, smelled fine, and had all the amenities we were looking for – a bed, bathroom, TV, struggling but existing wi-fi and space to set up some cooking supplies. Route 2 and Car Camping

After heading out of the east end of the park, we decided to take the scenic route across Montana. Route 2 passes through many small towns as well as a few Indian reservations and follows a railway that will transport most of the wheat that is harvested from all the fields along the way. Montana is quite a large state and we spent the rest of the day and evening driving across route 2. Later, we decided to duck back down to the highway rather than continuing on 2 into North Dakota. Just before crossing the state line, we stopped to rest for the night. Continue reading
